MARCEL VAN WILLIGEN
He is the Broker/Owner at Century 21 Ballena Properties. He shares his expertise in Real Estate and construction in the following languages: Dutch, English, French, Spanish and German.
Marcel has lived in the Ojochal area since making his home here in 1999.
During a vacation to Costa Rica, far from the everyday life of suits, ties and business meetings, he discovered an energy he could not shake. Marcel was completely under the spell of the great things he had discovered and it inspired him to return to Costa Rica and make the southern coast his new home.
Originally from the Netherlands where he began crafting a unique perspective on life and business. He attended CSG Willem de Zwijger in Schoonhoven and MEAO De Wegwijzer in Sleeuwijk, where he studied Business and Commerce. From there went on to serve his country in the Royal Dutch Army and upon the completion of a 6 year term, joined Lombard International Assurance in Luxembourg as an account executive responsible for the Dutch and Belgian markets.
When he arrived in Costa Rica, Marcel managed the Hotel Posada in Playa Tortuga for 4 years and then went on to work in sales with the Ventana Del Pacifico development group. Here he spent the next ten years learning the ins and outs of real estate sales, construction and land development business. He hosted their guided property tours introducing 100’s of new clients to the beauty of the Ballena Coast. Many of these clients are now his neighbors.
Marcel has accumulated a huge amount of experience during those years which he now uses daily in the management of his own real estate group. His knowledge of the area, the construction techniques, what works and what does not, his hands on experience of building his own house is beneficial to his construction clients.
Communication has never been a challenge at the office as Marcel also speaks five languages, which is why the office has such a diverse client base of both sellers and buyers.
